Two-Year Postdoctoral Research Fellowship in Structural Chemistry

School of Chemistry, Trinity College Dublin, Ireland

Applicants are invited to apply for this position which is funded through Science Foundation Ireland.

The ideal candidate would have hands-on experience of single-crystal X-ray diffraction using a CCD-diffractometer and have an in-depth knowledge of the collection, solution and refinement of structural data using a range of crystallographic and computing software. The instruments available include Bruker-smart/apex and newly acquired Rigaku diffractometers, equipped with low temperature and powder diffraction capabilities.

The role of the position is to support the novel synthetic work in both complex and supramolecular chemistry, undertaken in Professor Sylvia Draper’s research team. The latter is a dynamic group comprising 12 researchers which is accommodated in modern research laboratories in the Sami Nassr Institute of Advanced Materials Science. The candidate should be a good communicator with experience of small group or graduate teaching in crystallography. Knowledge of preparative chemistry and crystal growth techniques would be an advantage.

The position is funded up to point 4 of the level 2 postdoctoral researcher gross salary: € 41,767 per annum (excluding PRSI and FTWA pension contribution).

Applications via email to smdraper@tcd.ie should include a C.V., a brief statement of research interests and experience and the contact details of 3 referees. Closing date for applications 26/04/07.
