In the spirit of lies, damn lies and statistics, the ratio for getting
a newsgroup going is ~ 7 for to 1 against.
An RFD (request for discussion) has been sent to the "Usenet administrators"
at newgroups@uunet.uu.net. After terse emails crossed the Pacific both ways
disputing the appropriateness of creating such a newsgroup ("perceived lack
of usage compared to mainstream newsgroups" vs "quality counts for something"),
I am under the impression that the RFD "should/might" appear soon
for a ~21 day discussion on the news.groups newsgroup, then
a ~21 day voting period via email. Though only time will tell.
