psd and resolution

Hi all,
on 26-nov-95, Miguel Angel Salvado had problems with resolution obtained with
his psd mounted on a D5000 diffractometer. He observed something like FWHM=0.2.
There were comments from two people in the meanwhile stating they got better
resolutions (0.09 and 0.06).
My opinion is that a psd will always give worse resolution. It is a very good
detector for real-time problems, but if you need resolution, conventional
(1-dim) counters combined with synchrotron radiation are optimum. Such
equipment will probably give you worse profile agreement indices, but the
esds of the structural parameters are much lower.

cion sincrotron en Espania. Universidad de Sevilla (1993) p.203-251.
