I did that once and got some 30% more intensity with SIEMENS D5000.
You don't need to put the diffractometer into the closed bag - remember
that He is lighter than air. I just biult a sort of a tent on a wire frame
and supplied a He flow from the bottom. The problem might be with cooling
of the stepper motors. There will be no gas flow under the tent.
Actually that was why I could no continue working this way with my
SIEMENS. It uses a fan which cools the inside of the diffractometer.
I disconnected it for the time of testing but didn't dare to keep it
this way for long.
