Given the question and the answer of Joerg Bergmann, I strongly recommend
Thermogravimetry and Differential-Scanning-Calorimetry measurements. If
possible, connect a Mass-Spectrometer to the TG-exhaust.

Results of these investigations will give you more reasonable hints about
what's going on.
