I meant nothing at all by this. It's obviously just a silly joke called a
"double entendre" on this side of the water. I hardly think you can
complain when you yourself wrote rather patronisingly:

Frankly, I am surprised if you interpreted my reply as a slight to your
reputation, for which you know I have a high regard ever since you
published your first Rietveld paper with me on D1A.
