But if you DO want to unsubscribe, send a message "SIG Rietveld_L"
in the body to "listserv@ill.fr", NOT to "rietveld_L@ill.fr". Actually
we are now approaching 500 subscribers, with new subscriptions heavily
outnumbering sign-offs.

And here's something for Armel to break the lethargy :-) Visualisation
of 3D crystal structures on a PC using VRML generators such as STRUVIR,
GSAS, ICSD-for-WWW etc continues to improve with the full version of
Netscape Pro 4.04 now containing version 1 of Silicon Graphics' Cosmo
VRML viewer. And already version 2.0 of the 3D viewer is available
for Windows-95 and SGI machines from: http://cosmo.sgi.com/downloads/

Version 2.0 is faster and the controls to rotate, zoom-in etc easier
(if you choose the 'alternate control' option). It also does semi-
transparency well; see eg: http://www.ill.fr/dif/3D_gallery.html
Makes my old PC seem almost as good as a real Silicon Graphics machine :-)

A Mac version will soon be available, but already for the faster Macs
http://www2.intervista.com/download/mac/WorldView_Full_Installer.hqx
is almost as good.

And FIZ Karlsruhe signed an agreement with ILL to market ICSD-for-WWW,
with first customers being NIST and the Dutch academic community WWW
server CAOS/CAMM. The complete WWW server package including demo
ICSD database, CRYSTIN search engine, WWW cgi scripts and html files etc
is available for Sun, HP and SGI WWW servers: http://barns.ill.fr/dif/icsd
for details (No, it cannot be made available for non-Unix WWW servers).

Finally, Howard Flack and I are organising a micro-symposium on such
Internet tools at ECM-18 Prague, August 15-20. Suggestions welcome.
