The Medical Department at Brookhaven National Laboratory seeks to fill a
Postdoctoral Research Associate position.  Requires a Ph.D. in chemistry or
related field with experience in nuclear or radiochemistry.  The candidate
must be willing to participate in a DOE sponsored program on radioisotope
research and production with accelerator beams.  The successful candidate
will have experience in radiochemical/analytical separations.  Hands-on
experience in labeling methods for proteins is desirable.  Familiarity with
gamma spectroscopy and HPLC is advantageous.  The research will be primarily
concerned with development of production scheme and characterization of the
PET isotope Y-86. Related projects include development of production of
radioisotope Cu-67. The candidate will gain experience in accelerator
isotope production, remote manipulations in hot cells, and gamma
spectroscopy.  Good written and oral communication skills are required.  The
successful candidate will join the Radionuclide Research and Production
Group of the Medical Department.  The main program focus is to produce and
distribute radioisotopes for nuclear medicine research and clinical
practice, and to develop radioisotopes for new applications in medicine and
science.  The group?s major facilities include the Brookhaven Linac Isotope
Producer (BLIP) and a fully equipped hot laboratory with hot cells,
radiochemistry research laboratories, and analytical equipment.  The BLIP
utilizes high intensity proton beams of up to 200 MeV.  Under the direction
