[sdpd] Publication of a bok on: Diffraction at the Nanoscale: Nanocrystals, Defective and Amorphous Materials

Dear Colleagues,
I am very happy to inform you that the book  ?Diffraction at the Nanoscale: Nanocrystals, Defective and Amorphous Materials? has just been released by the Insubria University Press, and has already been distributed during the AIC-PSI-SSCr International Crystallography School at the Paul Scherrer Institut in Villigen (CH).

This publication, of about 220 pages, contains a dozen of chapters written by renowned international experts and is intended to be a reference textbook for teachers, scientists and young researchers willing to approach the structural characterization of real materials.

When the absence of periodicity, or the nanometric size of the crystals, limit the performances of the conventional crystallographic techniques (single crystal or powder diffraction, with X-rays or neutrons), the use of advanced experimental methodologies of total scattering and new computational or simulation algorithms constitute an absolutely unavoidable source of structural information.
