>I would like to respond to Ludwig Keller's question regarding the
>distribution of data over the Internet. The giving out of copies of
>any copyrighted material without the copyright holders permission is
>in direct violation of copyright law regardless of the medium by which
>it has been copied and/or distributed. Violators can be prosecuted and
>in some cases monetary damages are awarded to the copyright holder--
>damages that the violator is required to pay. Supplying individual
>entries from the Powder Diffraction File, without permission from
>JCPDS- International Centre for Diffraction Data (ICDD), is in violation
>of our copyright.
>
>The ICDD does provide a service to the occasional user of powder data by
>providing copies of individual entries at a very modest cost (which covers
>the duplication fees). Anyone wishing to obtain more information about this
>service should contact our Marketing Manager at fornoff@icdd.com.
