Many thanks to Earl F. Skelton for his effort! There is indeed a lot to
discuss and certainly a lot of room for interpretation of what is copyrighted
and what is not (at least what the U.S. laws are concerned). Given this
perspective, things are not that 'bad' after all - it appears that any honest
and responsible exchange of published data is still possible and should be
encouraged.
I will lay this matter to rest now.
