The answer will depend on your sample. If it is a geological sample, I
can't tell, but you will probably have to spend more effort and time than
with the following procedure.
As for furnace-calcined sintered powders or pellets, usually your agate
mortar will do the job. Grind the powder in the agate mortar and separate
particles of the desired size from the powder by sieving.

You can spend more money, sure, but I am happy with this procedure for
sample preparation.
