Graded Multi-layer Mirrors for XRPD

Dear Rietvelders One and All,

I am contemplating the purchase of one of the graded multi-layer mirrors
for powder diffraction (often known as Gobel mirrors). Such devices are now
commercially available from Brucker, Philips and others I assume.

I would like to attach the mirror to an Enraf/Nonius tube shield in the
INEL position sensitive detector instrument in our laboratory. Naturally, I
would prefer to purchase a mirror which can easily fitted to this tube
stand. I require a geometry which will produce a high intensity, parallel
beam. Our sample configuration can be either capillary or flat plate.

I would like to hear from anyone who has knowledge/experience of their use
in powder diffraction with special reference to:

(1) the expected intensity improvement in relation to the flat crystal
monochromators usually employed.

(2) ease of alignment of the device.

(3) the long term stability of the crystals.

Any other comments are most welcome.

Cheers
