Phagocytosis:
The engulfing and ingestion of bacteria or other foreign bodies by 
phagocytes.

Phagocyte:
A cell, such as a white blood cell, that engulfs and absorbs waste 
material, harmful microorganisms, or other foreign bodies in the 
bloodstream and tissues.


Either a Freudian slip or a carefully chosen word makes the link between 
"almost every innovation" and "waste material, harmful microorganisms, 
or other foreign bodies". Quote of the year for me - whether it was 
intentional or not ;-)
