If you have the reference and the CCDC deposit number, it is indeed much 
easier to get the cif: you can go to a web form and you will usually get 
your results faster and there are less restrictions on the number of 
cifs you can request, and on how often you can request them.

However, as long as it is for genuine research purposes, a one-off 
request for a small number of cifs/compounds (less than ten) will in 
principle be supplied free of charge to organisations that do not have 
access to the CSD.
