[sdpd] Open Postdoc Position at SINQ, PSI, Switzerland

Postdoc position in the field of high-pressure neutron scattering

The Paul Scherrer Institute is a centre for multi-disciplinary research and
one of the world's leading user laboratories. With its 1200 employees it
belongs as an autonomous institution to the Swiss ETH domain and
concentrates its activities on solid-state research and material sciences,
elementary particle and astrophysics, energy and environmental
research as well as on biology and medicine. The Paul Scherrer Institute
operates the Swiss neutron spallation source, SINQ, which is used to
investigate structural, electronic and magnetic correlations in a wide range
of materials.

We are currently looking for a postdoctoral fellow in the field of
high-pressure neutron scattering. The candidate is expected to actively
participate in the development and commissioning of high-pressure cells
(Paris-Edinburgh press and piston-cylinder cells) towards their utilization
at low-temperatures (< 10 K in the 10 GPa range). The scientific objectives
will partly focus on powder and single-crystal neutron diffraction studies
of advanced materials that show a strong coupling between magnetism and
ferroelectricity.

Experience in neutron scattering is desired but not essential. The ideal
candidate has experience in the field of strongly-correlated matter and in a
range of measurements techniques. Experience with high pressure
techniques would be advantageous. The position is limited to 2 years.
