I find this (and other) list servers to be extremely useful and
interesting but I have noticed an unfortunate trend that I comment on here
in hopes of reversing it. I receive numerous requests for information
through list servers, only to hear none of the replies in many cases. It
is, of course, the question/answer exchange that is so valuable and
interesting. I recently sent a message out on a mineralogical server, only
to find that all replies but one were sent directly to me, rather than being
sent out to the server.
I, and I am sure others, will appreciate it very much if all
informative replies be sent out through the list server rather than directly
to the individual posing a question. That way we can also stimulate
interesting discussions.
