Happy New Year folks,

The Denver X-ray Conference is meeting this summer in Denver, Colorado,
from August 3-8 in conjunction with the XVII Congress of the International
Union of Crystallography. The Committee on Powder Diffraction of the IUCR
is sponsoring a special session on "Phase Quantification" that may be of
interest to many mineralogists, material scientists, and diffractionists.
Deane Smith and I encourage anyone interested in this subject to submit an
abstract for consideration (abstract deadline is April 1, 1996).
Subjects appropriate for the special session include quantitative
analysis by X-ray diffraction using conventional or full-pattern methods.
Applied papers in geological, chemical, and materials fields are
particularly appropriate. If in doubt, send an email to me at
bish@lanl.gov. Abstracts will be considered for either oral or poster
presentation.
This meeting will be an excellent forum for communicating and hearing
about the latest developments in phase quantification, and I encourage all
interested parties to consider attending. Thanks for your interest.
