A French report about e-learning talks about 5000 university-level students
in the french system this year, and expects 25000 in 2002-2003
http://www.formasup.education.fr/fichier_statique/campus/CampusNumeriquesEnj
eux.pdf

(in french, of course...)

This is nothing if compared to e-learning student numbers in USA, Canada, UK,
Australia, as stated in the report.

However, your 3 students represent 0.06% of the 5000 in France, not too bad
;-).

I do not speak of distance learning as practiced in the old good way
by sending documents at the normal mail speed. We have >1 or 200000
of them in France, using the CNED services (a mammoth changing
slowly to today technologies).

PS - Next year will tell if the SDPD Internet Course student decrease
is an accident (parallel to mine) or if there is another reason (too
difficult, too expensive, or not enough expensive...).
