Re: Computing School Prior to the Osaka 2008 meeting

     I would like to point out the in the United States Sept. 1, 2008
is Labor Day. Many universities and colleges start their academic
schedule immediately thereafter and many people will have trouble
getting home in time from the IUCr Congress itself. If you schedule
the computing school after the Congress you will be severly limiting
the number of USA academics who would be able to attend.

     A quick check of ten universitites shows the following institutions
starting classes during that week or even earlier:
     University of Michigan
     Yale
     New York University
     Brandeis (begins before Labor Day}
     UC Berkeley (begins before Labor Day)
     Rutgers University
     University of Illinois at Chicago
     University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (begins before Labor Day)
Only two universities (Harvard, Princeton) begin significantly later.

     It would be courteous to USA academics to schedule the computing
school before the IUCr Congress rather than after.
